Vinnova

Vinnova funds innovation in Swedish companies, universities and public bodies, and publishes every application round with its opening date, its closing date and three standard facts: what you can apply for, who may apply, and how much. Roughly a third of its open rounds are Sweden's contribution to a European partnership call - Chips JU, IHI, ITEA, Eureka - where Vinnova is the national funder and the call itself is run by the partnership.

This is one agency, not every Swedish funder

Sweden has no single national register the way Spain and France do. Vinnova is the national innovation agency and the only Swedish catalogue Grantlark reads, and it is one agency: regional funders, Tillvaxtverket and the research councils publish their own and are not in here yet. So treat this as the innovation half of Swedish funding rather than the whole of it, which is also why a Swedish company should read the EU calls alongside it.

EU calls and national programmes

An EU call is published once, centrally, and is open to applicants across the member states. National and regional funding is published by each country instead, in its own register and its own language - the Förderdatenbank in Germany, the BDNS in Spain, Incentivi.gov.it in Italy, and so on. Most of the money a smaller company can realistically apply for is national or regional rather than EU wide, which is why the national registers are the larger part of this list.
